Grand Opening: Cantabria & Asturais Senior Apartments
OPTIMUS CONSTRUCTION CELEBRATES THE GRAND OPENING
OF CANTABRIA AND ASTURIAS SENIOR APARTMENTS
On January 28th, 2010 Cantabria and Asturias Senior Apartments celebrated its grand opening in Van Nuys, CA. The project was a new construction project which provides affordable housing for low and very low income seniors, ages 62 and up. The two buildings consist of 150 one-bedroom and two-bedroom units and garage parking. The amenities include: two enclosed courtyards with fountain and a pond; two outdoor fireplaces, a barbeque area, a community room, a library, a game room with pool table, a computer lab, a meeting room and a workout room. The project was funded through a combination of agencies including the Los Angeles Housing Department, Community Redevelopment Agency of the City of Los Angeles, Citi Community Capital, and Redstone Equity Partners.
The grand opening ceremony included a reception for the Office of Mayor Antonio Villaraigoas, Office of Council Member Richard Alarcon, Office of State Assemblyman Felipe Fuentes, Office of State Senator Alex Padilla, LAHD, CRA/LA, Owner, Property Management, the Design team, the Construction team and tenants of Cantabria and Asturias Senior Apartments.
Cantabria and Asturias enhances the image of the community and establishes a safe and active living environment for seniors. Educational classes are provided onsite, such as programs in wellness, arts, education, community building and intergenerational activities and ESL or computer training, with a services coordinator onsite. Both Cantabria and Asturias’ facilities are energy efficient and environmentally sound. The building is at 100% occupancy for all 150 units.
